Standard dip stations are built with little thought as to how far apart the handles are. Wide guys, and even some average-sized guys, can have issues with how narrow a width they're forced into using.
Instead of opting for problematical bench dips, take two bars and set them up in the squat cage on the pins. Note: If the pins are slippery, the bars may slide. In that case, wrap the pins with those thin yoga mats to give the needed friction and avoid slippage.
This way, you can set up the bars as far apart as you'd like, with the added bonus of being able to angle the bars inward or outward to suit your desired degree of rotation. Feel free to throw thick grips on the bars for added comfort.
